Launch date announced for new VESTAS SailRocket

After 16 or so months of constant design and building. The new VESTAS SailRocket is set to be unveiled to the public for the first time on the 8th of March. The mood seems to have changed from fighting to get it out the shed to trying to hold it in!

One thing is for sure, it's going to take something pretty special to beat the kitesurfers and regain the Outright world speed sailing record for the 'boats'. We think we have the right 'tool' for the job ahead but experience has taught us to be humble. To successfully thread this boat through to an outright world record is a daunting task. Nothing is expected to be easy or automatic about it. On the 8th of March we will have reached a significant milestone... but the road ahead is still long. The full press release can be seen on the front page of the web-site.

I look forward to sharing the journey with you all from here on in.

Sorry for the wait. When you see it, I think you'll agree that it was worth it.

Here we go again.

Cheers, Paul and the team

launch

Hi Paul,

Thinking of coming down for the launch, what sort of time is it happening?

cheers

Mike

happy

happy to see that the launch is coming.
unfortunatly the fact that it is on tuesday make that I could not be with you. maybe later.
I have some question about the picture on press release. what is it ? I propose a game to guess.

I let you fix the price

for the back picture I think about wing structure or maybe beam structures
for the front, it is harder, it looks as something to blow directed on a surface where the wing reflected. I will say a system to reduce the spray !

cheers

Florian

 Hiya Florian, shame you

Hiya Florian, shame you couldn't make it. These projects always have uncertain futures and you never know when or if these two boats will ever be together again. I can't wait to see them myself. The picture is of the wing structure. Part of the mid wing to be exact. It has a lot more carbon than the first one which had a lot of glass laminate on the foam ribs. We manage to save half the laminate weight with Carbon. There are a few things in the other picture that are visible... but only if you know exactly what you are looking at. Once you do, the sharp eye will pick up some interesting things. I will leave it at that for now as I'm a sucker for giving things away.

I guarentee that this boat will not disappoint those that liked the first one. I think you will have hoped that we could make an equally creative jump to the next boat.

Stay tuned mate, Paul.

Great to hear about the progress

Paul et al,
This is exciting news, can't wait to see the new Vestas SailRocket.
