I'll let the pictures tell the story. The triple rum and cokes are already hitting the mark.

BERNT WITH HIS GOPRO PLANE. THE FOOTAGE IS AMAZING. THIS GUY HAS SKILLS. BLOODY WELL DONE IN 30 KNOTS OF WIND.
I SAVED THE BIG REVEAL UNTIL I GOT THE BOAT BACK UP TO THE TIMING HUT. WALKING BACK UP WITH THE NUMBERS AND MALC.
I WROTE THE NUMBERS BACKWARDS IN THE SAND. THIS WAS THE MOMENT.
MALCOLM AND I. WE STARTED THIS GIG 11 YEARS EARLIER.

Fantastic
Submitted by trikiteran on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 09:19.I'm not surprised, you and the boat had it in you, but it is a fantastic result nonetheless !!!!
Congratulations once again, the record will be in your hands for a long time, no kiter will get it back, unless they tie their kite to their fins :)
Yeah but you can't put that
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 11:34.Yeah but you can't put that in the back of your car. Nice job none the less, but we kite surfers will be fighting back soon :)
OK, and...
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 16:52.OK, and how many times do kite boarders obliterate their own records in 30 knots of wind? Personally, I look forward to seeing what and how the kiteboarders perform. But you have to admit that SR has pushed the cutting edge of sailing science a mighty leap forward. It's a new game.
Congratulations to the VSR Team
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 08:16.Hi Paul & VSR Team
I have followed your project with growing interest from the very start. I have seen the footage (and end) of VSR1 flipping, followed the numerous ups and downs of the project. Then the frustrating search for the correct VSR2 foil.
I believe that you demonstrated to us the basic lessons to success in life:
1) To achieve the best we can be we have no choice but to push through NO MATTER WHAT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
2) Giving up must NEVER be an option.
3) The total of a group effort accounts for more then for the total of its parts.
What amazed me about this project is the openness to the world regarding the progress of the project. The folly way of secrecy must surely be realised by now. (also refer the openness of the 'Red Bull Stratus' Project)
So I would like to congratulate you all not so much for the end result but as how you handled yourselves during the journey.
VSR Team, I salute you.
Uwe
Well stated
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 16:31.Uwe - Very well stated.
I have said this very thing about Sailrocket from the start. Their public and transparent efforts are not only fascinating, but are a very real lesson in perseverance and belief. We shared the lows and the dissapointment of the dead-ends, and we are now swept along inn the euphoria of an elegant and astounding record.
On behalf of the sailers of Vermont, I too stand in salute of Team VSR2.

I know you've been saying all along the concept is designed to do this, but it's still almost unbelievable. A 10-knot jump in the record is ridiculous. You are truly in a league of your own now. Very impressive work, congratulations.

Stunning - bye bye kite surfers
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 11/25/2012 - 00:05.Wow - that is so impressive - you have surely blown the kite surfers away forever now and returned the record to where it belongs - in the hands of a real boat. I'm passing on congratulations for a job well done from us here at Flow Solutions (NEWPAN). Respect to everyone involved, esp. Malcolm and to my old friend Chris HJ and his team - and to you Paul for getting the job done in epic style. This needs writing up!

Eke out...
Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 11/24/2012 - 23:30.Paul and VSR2 team,
Congratulations once again. Stunning result.
When I passed on congratulations on your 59+ knot 500m run, I wondered how much more you could eke out of VRS2. Well I didn't imagine you would out-do the existing Nautical Mile record and then go on to exceed 65 knots over 500m.
I have recently plotted up the absolute speed records results since the WSSRC began to award them in the early 70's. While there was a steady climb in the results from 2008, there is now an absolute 'blip' at 2012 (pending WSSRC ratification of course)! You have now set such a high benchmark, I think you may be hanging on to this record for quite some time just as Yellow Pages Endeavour did in the past. You better stop now to give others a chance. On second thoughts...
At some stage, it will be interesting to read more details of that re-designed supercavitating foil you now have on VSR2. Clearly, the team got the formula right!!
I have been sharing your good news with the International Hydrofoil Society. We have been watching your achievements quietly with fingers crossed for your success in this venture. Now we can all smile even more.

This numbers are insane.....big achievements in a few days.
For some years ago i was doing 72 knots riding a water jet, so i know the feeloing of sitting in a small craft at such speeds, now you are doing almost the same with the only power of the wind. Great performance :-)
Dongrats again :-)
Btw......when are you going to do the 70 mark ?

So stoked, all the hard work and the pain came good in the end. I honestly thought maybe 57 or 58 would be the limit.
65 is going to take decades to catch.
Congratulations, you have raised the bar so high, into motorway speeds indeed, a whole new science is needed from now on.

Record breakers
Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 11/24/2012 - 20:00.Paul, you have done an outstanding job over the last 10 years - taking the idea and making it happen as a great project manager pulling together all the necessary experts, and a cool, calm and collected pilot pushing your craft where nobody has been before. What a fantastic result for you all - absolutely brilliant! Enjoy your well earned celebrations and we all look forward to what might come next ......! How about a 'show and tell' in Weymouth on the original speed course so that we can begin to understand what you have actually achieved? What an uplifting result in a cold, damp and dismal UK autumn. We have thoroughly enjoyed the ride with you all, following the great endeavour through your informative blog and tweets. Thank you, and WELL DONE!
