Fresh off the TRIMBLE... 68.01 over 1 second, 65.45 over 500 meters.

I'll let the pictures tell the story. The triple rum and cokes are already hitting the mark.

MALCOLM AND GEORGE WATCHING THE BEAST DO ITS STUFF.

POD HIGH AND SMOKING...60+ RUN 2

BERNT WITH HIS GOPRO PLANE. THE FOOTAGE IS AMAZING. THIS GUY HAS SKILLS. BLOODY WELL DONE IN 30 KNOTS OF WIND.

I SAVED THE BIG REVEAL UNTIL I GOT THE BOAT BACK UP TO THE TIMING HUT. WALKING BACK UP WITH THE NUMBERS AND MALC.

I WROTE THE NUMBERS BACKWARDS IN THE SAND. THIS WAS THE MOMENT.

MALCOLM AND I. WE STARTED THIS GIG 11 YEARS EARLIER.

YEAH... PRETTY HAPPY WITH THAT.

GEORGIE BOY IS PRETTY HAPPY TOO.

BRINGING THE BEAST BACK HOME IN ONE PIECE.

We are absolutely over the moon with todays performance. I'll leave it at that. Tomorrow is already written off. So cool, so damned cool.

THANKYOU VESTAS FOR BACKING US ALL THE WAY.

That's it. Job done!

Fantastic

I'm not surprised, you and the boat had it in you, but it is a fantastic result nonetheless !!!!
Congratulations once again, the record will be in your hands for a long time, no kiter will get it back, unless they tie their kite to their fins :)

Yeah but you can't put that

Yeah but you can't put that in the back of your car. Nice job none the less, but we kite surfers will be fighting back soon :)

OK, and...

OK, and how many times do kite boarders obliterate their own records in 30 knots of wind? Personally, I look forward to seeing what and how the kiteboarders perform. But you have to admit that SR has pushed the cutting edge of sailing science a mighty leap forward. It's a new game.

Congratulations to the VSR Team

Hi Paul & VSR Team

I have followed your project with growing interest from the very start. I have seen the footage (and end) of VSR1 flipping, followed the numerous ups and downs of the project. Then the frustrating search for the correct VSR2 foil.

I believe that you demonstrated to us the basic lessons to success in life:

1) To achieve the best we can be we have no choice but to push through NO MATTER WHAT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
2) Giving up must NEVER be an option.
3) The total of a group effort accounts for more then for the total of its parts.

What amazed me about this project is the openness to the world regarding the progress of the project. The folly way of secrecy must surely be realised by now. (also refer the openness of the 'Red Bull Stratus' Project)

So I would like to congratulate you all not so much for the end result but as how you handled yourselves during the journey.

VSR Team, I salute you.

Uwe

Well stated

Uwe - Very well stated.

I have said this very thing about Sailrocket from the start. Their public and transparent efforts are not only fascinating, but are a very real lesson in perseverance and belief. We shared the lows and the dissapointment of the dead-ends, and we are now swept along inn the euphoria of an elegant and astounding record.

On behalf of the sailers of Vermont, I too stand in salute of Team VSR2.

Tim - Vermont

Wow!

Bloody well done team!

No words also

I fall upon my knees and put my nose into the dust in front of Her Highness Sailrocket II.

Congratulations!

Well done Paul! This is phenomenal!

Astonishing

I swore out loud when I first loaded the page and saw this. I know you've been saying all along the concept is designed to do this, but it's still almost unbelievable. A 10-knot jump in the record is ridiculous. You are truly in a league of your own now. Very impressive work, congratulations.

WOW!!

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME.

Congratulations!!!

Stunning - bye bye kite surfers

Wow - that is so impressive - you have surely blown the kite surfers away forever now and returned the record to where it belongs - in the hands of a real boat. I'm passing on congratulations for a job well done from us here at Flow Solutions (NEWPAN). Respect to everyone involved, esp. Malcolm and to my old friend Chris HJ and his team - and to you Paul for getting the job done in epic style. This needs writing up!

You seems to don't like kite

You seems to don't like kite surf. You think Sail Rocket is a "real boat" beeing able to go in just one direction?

Congratulations!

Absolutely amazing job and so well deserved, guys.

Such tenacity and unshaking belief has reaped its due rewards.

Congratulations Paul and all the team.

Cheers

Time to go on Top Gear!

Congratu- f***ing- lations!!

Like breaking the Sound Barrier, the other side of the Foil Barrier is virtually unlimited!

Ellen was invited to TG- Now you deserve a shot at their track after owning Walvis Bay.

I am on cloud nine today- Thanks to you all!!

Eke out...

Paul and VSR2 team,

Congratulations once again. Stunning result.

When I passed on congratulations on your 59+ knot 500m run, I wondered how much more you could eke out of VRS2. Well I didn't imagine you would out-do the existing Nautical Mile record and then go on to exceed 65 knots over 500m.

I have recently plotted up the absolute speed records results since the WSSRC began to award them in the early 70's. While there was a steady climb in the results from 2008, there is now an absolute 'blip' at 2012 (pending WSSRC ratification of course)! You have now set such a high benchmark, I think you may be hanging on to this record for quite some time just as Yellow Pages Endeavour did in the past. You better stop now to give others a chance. On second thoughts...

At some stage, it will be interesting to read more details of that re-designed supercavitating foil you now have on VSR2. Clearly, the team got the formula right!!

I have been sharing your good news with the International Hydrofoil Society. We have been watching your achievements quietly with fingers crossed for your success in this venture. Now we can all smile even more.

Awesome job - what a ride for 10 years!

Sweet Jaysus Paul and the sailrocket team, you just ripped another hole in it! I've been following the project from the beginning and am super happy that you have managed to complete annihilate the previous record. What a journey. Looking forward to seeing that film.

Enjoy the cold stuff.

Amazing work and dedication

Hi

I've been following this project for many years and to be honest it's pretty remarkable the time and dedication you put into this incredible record highly deserved. Have you been contacted by the America's Cup yet? ;)
I hope that there will be more amazing projects from you to come.
Philippe

The biggest congratulations to all of you !

I have been following you closely on twitter today and became really happy on behalf of you Paul and your team.
This numbers are insane.....big achievements in a few days.
For some years ago i was doing 72 knots riding a water jet, so i know the feeloing of sitting in a small craft at such speeds, now you are doing almost the same with the only power of the wind. Great performance :-)
Dongrats again :-)

Btw......when are you going to do the 70 mark ?

Stunning..!

Not much else to say really, just absolutely b****y stunning!!
Great Job Paul!! Great job, Malcolm, Helena, Alex and everyone else who's names I've forgotten as I write this..
You believed when many didn't and now you've shown 'em!!
I'll be toasting you guys tonight and will be there in spirit along with all your other supporters..
Cheers!!

Cool.

And to inc. the record for the second time with the largets margin... :-)

Unleash the beast!

Awesome job, I have been following your progress since the days of building the mould for VSR1.

It has been an amazing couple of weeks watching you bring the boat up to speed and then get the break through.

Celebrate and enjoy, then close of this session with another couple of updates to the record books.

Freakin awesome!

Just simply amazing Paul! Freaking awesome! Everyone was hoping you'd get the average above 60... But 65?! You are now almost a whole 10kts above the old record!!! Outstanding!

Again sincere congrats to all the team!!!!

When the dust settles, I really hope you will write a book about this adventure because I am sure I am not the only one who wonders what goes through your mind when u finally hit the magic numbers!!! We want to relieve the whole adventure! Forget "riding rockets"... Try "riding the rocket"!

In the mean time enjoy some more Sailrockets you've earned them!

Keep up the good work!

Juls

Brilliant, you broken your

Unreal guys, Been following

Unreal guys,

Been following you from the start but due to IT have lost my login
So stoked, all the hard work and the pain came good in the end. I honestly thought maybe 57 or 58 would be the limit.
65 is going to take decades to catch.
Congratulations, you have raised the bar so high, into motorway speeds indeed, a whole new science is needed from now on.

Marko

Incredible...

...You'll be on top of the list for many years to come - well deserved.
/Thomas Paasch

this is absolutely amazing !

this is absolutely amazing !

Is there a limit to this incredible series achievements ?

Peak at 70+ ? 65+ on a mile ?

Speechless.

Record breakers

Paul, you have done an outstanding job over the last 10 years - taking the idea and making it happen as a great project manager pulling together all the necessary experts, and a cool, calm and collected pilot pushing your craft where nobody has been before. What a fantastic result for you all - absolutely brilliant! Enjoy your well earned celebrations and we all look forward to what might come next ......! How about a 'show and tell' in Weymouth on the original speed course so that we can begin to understand what you have actually achieved? What an uplifting result in a cold, damp and dismal UK autumn. We have thoroughly enjoyed the ride with you all, following the great endeavour through your informative blog and tweets. Thank you, and WELL DONE! David Maclean - silly old codger, still trying to sail an International 14.

Bloody awesome!

Another day on the water and another record! You guys are on fire! Congratulations! It is amazing to see the water sailing speed record more than double in my life time so far. Let's go after the land yacht speed record next :)

Success comes to those that persevere...

Just amazing! An incredible achievement by everyone involved.

Awesome

That's all!

Congrats Paul and team, well

Congrats Paul and team, well deserved. Cant wait for the video, still trying to comprehend those sorts of speeds in a boat.

Revel in it for sure!

Hey, might as well pack it up, leave on this great note, and in one piece! I'm really anxious to see how the existing design is tuned or what the new design will be like to tear down records for the longer passageways in future runs to come. In a word... Unbelievable!

Absolutely Outstanding!

Huge congratulations to all of you on the Sail Rocket team in realizing the fruits of 11 years work and achieving the biggest break through in the history of speed sailing.

And thank you for taking the time and effort to share the journey with all of us, it has been a thoroughly engaging ride!

Silas

OH WOW!

ABSOLUTELY A MAZ ING !!!

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU PAUL, MALCOLM AND ALL THE TEAM.
It was definitely worth crossing my fingers for you guys this morning.

I can't wait to see the video, the last video was almost like doing the run oneself! This video is likely to be scary.

I'm so pleased for you guys.
